Meanwhile, But My Heart Is Broken, a song from Swimmer One’s first album The Regional Variations, will soundtrack a key dramatic moment in Spread, the first Hollywood movie by Scottish director David Mackenzie (Young Adam, Hallam Foe). NEWS, JUNE 2009 - FESTIVAL GIG, REMIXES AND NEW ALBUMS

Monday, June 01, 2009

It’s been a wee while since we updated this website, sorry. Here is the latest news....

1. On Saturday 20 June, Swimmer One will play live at The Garden Party, a new boutique festival at Kelburn Castle, near Largs. The Aliens, James Yorkston, The Bays, Found, A Band Called Quinn and lots of other interesting people are playing too. The festival is in a beautiful, tree-lined country park on the west coast of Scotland. To book a (reasonably priced) ticket, visit www.kelburngardenparty.com.

2. Hamish from Swimmer One has started doing remixes for people, as Hunterheck. You can listen to the first fruits of his labour (a remix for our London friends Jonny Cola and the A Grades) at his new MySpace page. Coming soon: a remix for Astrid Williamson.

3. Meanwhile, Andrew from Swimmer One has recorded an album as Seafieldroad.

4. Luxury Car’s second album is finished and will be available soon. You can listen to tracks from the album now at the band’s MySpace page.

5. Hamish and Andrew recently spent a day in the recording studio with Cora Bissett, who has previously sung on two Swimmer One songs. The plan is for Cora to release a solo album next year. Everyone is very pleased with the results so far.

And that, for the next wee while, is it. Thank you for listening. Lots happening in the autumn. We’ll be in touch.

Swimmer One FREE live shows

Thursday, November 13, 2008

Swimmer One are playing two free live shows in November, at Oran Mor in Glasgow on Wednesday 26 November and The Caves, Edinburgh, on Thursday 27 November. These are likely to be the band’s last live shows until early 2009, when the new album is released.

They’re both part of The Mill, Miller Beer’s new live music programme. You have to register online here in advance to get tickets, which means that someone (not us) will probably email you at some point about beer, but they’ll also tell you about other free gigs in Glasgow and Edinburgh. (And if you feel awkward about giving your details to a beer company, you can always make yourself feel better by telling lies and messing with their market research.)

Biphonic news, autumn 2008

Sunday, November 02, 2008

Things might seem a little quiet just now, but they will soon get much louder. There are currently three Biphonic Records projects on the go…

1. The second Swimmer One album. This is already recorded, and just needs mixed. It has the working title of Dead Orchestras, is likely to consist of nine songs, and should hopefully come out early in 2009. Watch out for updates at the Swimmer One website.

2. Andrew from Swimmer One’s solo project, recorded under the name First Minister. This will be very different to Swimmer One, but he hopes you like it. Hamish is going to help him produce it, since Andrew is hopeless at that sort of thing. At some point he will return the favour. It is now mostly recorded and will be mixed soon for a 2009 release. Watch out for updates at the First Minister MySpace page.

3. The second Luxury Car album. We are very excited about this. You can listen to four songs for free just now at the band’s MySpace page.

So, there may well be a sudden flurry of Biphonic Records releases in early 2009. Watch this space…
