John Robertson – Our Room is a Big World

Released: 28/02/2025

Our Room is a Big World is the second album from John Robertson, and follows from his 2022 debut The Atomic Facts of Love, which received strong BBC radioplay and positive reviews.

Thematically, it continues in its exploration of hope, cynicism, struggle and humanity, and as a collection of songs serves as an invitation to enter into a world where melancholy, sci-fi, humour and longing all co-exist.

A sonically-bracing leap forward, Our Room is a Big World also offers a rare and coherent stylistic diversity, where the powerful, euphoric immediacy of The Still sits alongside the electro swagger of Women in Cars. Where slow-burn centrepiece tracks Hall of Fame and When Things Go Wrong showcase a songwriting strength and substance that more than earn their run time, and where the unrelenting Mariachi pace of the title track can sit alongside the industrial and oblique Innocents Day.

It’s a wonderful world to spend some time in.

Formerly releasing music as Luxury Car, Robertson’s music has already found its way onto adverts, BBC radio sessions, a live film screening at Edinburgh International Film Festival and has led to sharing stages with The Buzzcocks and The Delgados.
